On the weekend our MD, Martin Maskell competed in a tongue and cheek event “Man Vs Machine” as with most of these things, the event was orchestrated by others, over a beer in the local pub!

Martin never to shy away from a challenge accepted it, without any hesitation!

The event consisted of a race from the Swan, in Burntwood to the Horse & Jockey in Lichfield; where the participants had to drink a pint of beer and then cycle back to the Swan.

The twist being Martin was on a conventional road bike and Ade (his competitor) was on an electric, hybrid bike.

It wasn’t anticipated that Martin would make such a strong start and beat the cars that were following and therefore had to wait at the Horse & Jockey for his pint!

Martin completed the ride in 20 minutes, 25 seconds and came back the winner!

Aside from the fun of the race, there was a serious and poignant point to the event, which was to raise pivotal funds in aid of Burntwood Breast Care.

Burntwood Breast Care is a friendship group for ladies of all ages living with Breast Cancer, which encourages ladies not to feel alone and offers support , and a place to chat over coffee with other like-minded ladies. Funds were raised in support of this critical support group alongside a £250.00 cheque from Manstal Ltd.

The money was donated in memory of a very generous, loving, and popular lady within the Burntwood and Lichfield area, Christine Rose.

Christine sadly passed away in January 2021, Christine is and will always be sadly missed by family, friends, and her local community.
